Trading Signals 101 - What you should know

February 2, 2016

Trading signals seem to be growing in popularity, especially trading signals for Forex and stocks. When I search 'Trading Signals', the search provider offers me a list of search suggestions, I plan to use these suggestions as the running content of this blog. If you have any questions about what is covered in this post, please send me an email samuel@love-the-pips.com

Free Trading Signals

I am really not sure what the logic is for searching and subscribing to free trading signals. Anyone that can make consistent profits from trading will not offer trading signals for free. Operating and managing my Forex trading room takes a good chunk of my time each day, I would not honestly provide this service for free. If trading signals are offered for free as a trial period this is a different matter. I strongly sugest following free trading signals with a demo account before following the trades with live funds. These signals may be 'free' as there is no subscription cost but you will pay the price through losing trades.

Trading Signals in the UK

I can understand why traders like a trading room or signal provider to be in the same or similar geographical location. Most of my trading signal subscribers are based in the UK, Canada or the US. Those that are based in the UK are generally in the trading room most and reap the most benefits.

Trading Signals Review

Reviews are worth watching and reading before subscribing to any paid service, no matter the product or service My only advice is to take some personal reviews with a pinch of salt. If you search for a review for any Forex broker, you will find a number of nightmare reviews, 'broker X is a scammer', 'broker Y won't let me withdraw my funds' and 'broker Z stop hunts', these are some of the most common complaints on trading reviews and Forex trading forums. If we took these remarks seriously we would never open an account with any broker, according to the trading forums all brokers are fakes and you won't get your money back.

What I suggest is looking for the positive reviews more so than the negative ones. If there are positive reviews about a trading signal service, this is a good sign. If the trading signal service is rated 1 star out of 5 and there are no positive reviews at all, beware!

Anything else?

If you decide to subscribe to my Forex trading signals (or if you decide to subscribe elsewhere) please read and apply this advice; Don't jump from trading signal provider to trading signal provider as some jump from trading strategy to trading strategy. Too many traders are not profitable as once their stratgy starts to lose (drawdown) they abandon the strategy and develop a new one. The same thing happens again and they are in a continuous losing cycle. Don't do this with trading signal providers, it is a waste of your money and time! I strongly suggest subscribing to trading signals for at least 3 months, only then can you know how profitable the trading signals are.

I may be about to shoot myself in the foot but make the most of the signals and try to learn as much about the strategy and trading signal provider as you can. You are paying for the service so ask questions, send the provider emails and make the most from the trading opportunity.
